Authoritative version: English. This document explains how the BadgeScout marketing website (badgescout.app) and the BadgeScout browser extension for Chrome and Firefox handle data.
1. Overview
BadgeScout is a Twitch badge platform with a browser extension that tracks badge campaigns and alerts you directly in your browser. This page covers both this website and the extension itself.
2. This website (badgescout.app)
- No accounts. This website does not require or offer a BadgeScout account.
- No marketing analytics. We do not run marketing analytics, ad trackers, or third-party tracking pixels on this website.
- Server logs. The infrastructure hosting this website may automatically record standard technical logs for security and reliability (for example: IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser user agent). These logs are not used to build advertising profiles and are not shared with marketing partners.
- Cookies. This website does not set marketing or tracking cookies.
3. Controller
The controller within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR is:
c/o Adressgeber #2283
An der Alten Ziegelei 38
48157 Münster
Deutschland
4. The BadgeScout browser extension
- No BadgeScout account. The extension does not require you to sign in or create an account. No Twitch credentials are collected by BadgeScout.
- Local settings.Your preferences — tracked badges, reminders, quiet hours, notification state, language, and watchtime timers — are stored locally in your browser using the extension's Storage permission. They are not uploaded to a BadgeScout account, because none exists.
- What the extension cannot see. The extension does not request permission to read your browsing history, the content of your open tabs, or the content of the pages you visit.
- Network requests. To retrieve current badge, timing and live-channel eligibility information, the extension connects to the BadgeScout service API at
api.badgenotify.com. The domain is a legacy technical hostname operated by the same provider and does not indicate a separate data provider. Like any web request, these connections may be recorded in standard server logs for reliability and abuse prevention. - Permissions. The extension requests three browser permissions: Storage (save your settings locally), Notifications (show badge alerts), and Alarms (schedule countdown checks and reminders in the background).
5. Hosting and legal basis
The website is hosted by a third-party infrastructure provider that processes connection data on our behalf for security and delivery. Processing of necessary technical data is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating a secure website and extension). Technical logs may include ordinary HTTPS connection metadata. Edge and system-journal retention controls are in place on the hosting systems; a complete public retention disclosure for all application process logs remains pending until those controls are verified. Logs are not used to build advertising profiles and are not shared with marketing partners.
6. Links within our network
BadgeScout may link to other BadgeScout network surfaces operated by the same provider, including channel and web surfaces that display badge campaign details.
7. Third-party services
The website and extension may also link to Twitch, the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons and Discord. These third-party services operate under their own privacy policies.
8. Children
BadgeScout is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as BadgeScout changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
